Food For Thought

You are always a valuable, worthwhile human being – not because anybody says so, not because you're successful, not because you make a lot of money – but because you decide to believe it and for no other reason. - Wayne Dyer

The heart's affections are divided like the branches of the cedar tree; if the tree loses one strong branch; it will suffer but it does not die; it will pour all its vitality into the next branch so that it will grow and fill the empty place. - Khalil Gibran

It costs so much to be a full human being that there are very few who have the love and courage to pay the price. One has to abandon altogether the search for security and reach out to the risk of living with both arms. One has to embrace life like a lover. - Morris West

I really like the one about the cedar tree. I'm not too sure about the whole pouring all of the vitality into the next branch to fill the empty space. That part just seems so depressing.
It's like saying after suffering a break-up you start over-doing everything in the next relationship to try and fill the void the last person left. Wouldn't it be best to focus on the rest of the branches you already have and appreciate their presence? After all, cedar trees have many branches, strong or otherwise. The small ones might break off, but if it's a strong branch, it's not going anywhere.

...Unless of course someone chops it off, but hey why get overly technical?

Hi Verbose,

Thank you for your comment.

I understand what you are saying, but as you say why get 'overly technical'. :-)

The gist of it all is that, we will not die because of one lost affection. We move on, and we find something, or someone else to love.

Cheers,
Vincent
