Succulents

The Flower Dome is one of the attractions in The Gardens by the Bay. In the Dome are eight gardens and a flower field which exhibit exotic flowers and plants from the Mediterranean and semi-arid regions from five different continents.

Here are some pictures from the Succulent garden. I was able to identify them from the signs in the garden.

Aloe ivory down or the ivory down aloe

Aloe 'Ruby Blaze' or the ruby blaze aloe
Cleistoractus
Elephant's foot
Euphorbia viguleri annkarafantsiensis
Lluaudla procera aka Madagascar Octillo
Pachypodium lamerei Drake aka madagascar palm club foot
Ferocatuc coloratus or fire Sarrel cactus.
All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti.

Quips And Quirks

Life will always be difficult and stressful. Life is a struggle. That’s why we need humour; that’s why we need to laugh more often. Laughter is probably the best and cheapest medicine.

Come what may, Life goes on. After the storm, there will be sunshine. So, we might as well just relax, and take it easy – laugh and be happy. When we are happy and at peace, we are able to deal with the situations of everyday life better.

Here are some humorous quips and quirks to help bring on a smile, or better still, a chuckle. Remember the ones you like, and help to spread the laughter. People who spread joy and laughter are usually well-liked.

Supertrees At Night

Although it is very pleasant to take a stroll in The Gardens by the Bay in the evening, it is not the best time for photography. However, the Super rees are lit up at night, and there are two music and light shows called Garden Rhapsody every night. They are the Gardens' night attractions. You will be dazzled by the lit Supertrees and the music and light shows.

Here are some pictures of the lit Supettrees.

The Gardens By The Bay

The Gardens by the Bay sits on 101 hectares of reclaimed land in the Central region of Singapore. It is Singapore’s premier urban outdoor recreation space, and a national icon. It is Singapore’s pride and joy.

Work in the number one tourist attraction in Singapore is always in progress. As such there are always new additions to the garden, a new event, a new display, or something you hadn’t paid attention to in previous visits.

In this way, they encourage visitors to return. I have been there numerous times, and I am still discovering corners of the garden which I didn't know existed.

Here are some pictures of the gardens from my visits. A view of The Gardens By the Bay from across the Bay.

Topiary Animals

Topiary animals woven from Indian Laurel showcasing native animals from Southeast Asia. I saw these in the Gardens by the Bay. It showcases native animals from Southeast Asia.

According to the sign, species of fig from the botanical genus Ficus are the plants connecting all these animals life-styles, forming an intricate web of interdependent living creatures.

Ficus microcarpa, also known as Chinese banyan, Malayan banyan, Indian laurel, curtain fig, or gajumaru is a tree in the fig family Moraceae. It is native to Tropical Asia, and widely planted as a shade tree. - Information from Wikipedia

This looks like an orangutan.

A civet?
A pangolin
I don't know what this is. Do you?
A rhinerous beetle?

On Life

We all live once. That is to say, we have only one life – a number of years. What we make of it is up to us. But whatever we do, we should be careful not to screw it up. It is not fun living your life in regret, knowing that it could have been a lot better and easier if you hadn't messed up.

Life is difficult at the best of times. For some, it is a constant struggle, day in day out, trying to make ends meet. So, if you are living a good life, be grateful. At the same time, show a bit of understanding and forbearance for those who are struggling.

Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly. Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate, or despise, serves to defeat us in the end. What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such. - Henry Miller

Life asks for a preparation as complete as we can afford; the great contest should be fought with spirit but with good temper always; we should never think the game lost while it is still going; and finally we should have the satisfaction of quitting the field able to say: I did my best. - Arthur Lynch

Life doesn’t cheat. It doesn’t pay in counterfeit coin. It doesn’t lock up shop and go home when pay-day comes. It pays every man exactly what he has earned. The age-old law that a man gets what he earns hasn’t been suspended. When we take that truth home and believe it, we’ve turned a big corner on the high road that runs straight through to success. - Basil S. Walsh
