Dahlia Dreams

There is a flower exhibition at the Flower Dome called Dahlia Dreams. Since this is also during the Chinese New Year, apart from dahlias, there are also other plants commonly associated with Chinese New Year, such as celosias, chrysanthemums, and cymbidium…

I was there to have a look at the flower display. The exhibition is on until the 25th of February. Today I will post some pictures of the Dahlias I saw on display.

This show piece is right at the entrance of the Flower Dome – two larger than life rabbits accompany a paper cutting of multiple rabbits in red against a gold background, colours associated with prosperity, good luck and happiness in Chinese culture. Paper-cutting is considered one of the most important types of Chinese folk art.

If you are wondering why the two rabbits, this is because this is the Year of the Rabbit!

The show piece was certainly very popular with visitors to take photos.

This is the back of the show piece.

This is the Flower Bed where all flower exhibitions take place.
