The streaked tenrec has a specialized patch of 11‑16 quills on its lower back called a stridulating organ. By contracting a small muscle, it rubs these quills together to produce ultrasonic sounds – a method called stridulation. Crickets do this. Some snakes and spiders do this. But the streaked tenrec is the only mammal in the world that communicates this way. The clicks and chirps are used to warn family members of danger and to keep the group together in dense vegetation. The Arctic wolf is one of nature's most resilient predators. It survives months of darkness, temperatures as low as -70°F, and hunts prey ten times its size. But its most astonishing feat is one you've probably never heard of.

A peek into the world of animals. I think it is good that we learn something about the animals that share our wonder-ful world.
