Eight usual suspects gathered for a Christmas cum Year-end dinner at Ernest’s home last Friday. Ernest has volunteered to cook for us again. Those who were not working arrived after three pm. Those who were working arrived after work.
Some light snacks and drinks for the early arrivals.
The main course was a chicken stuffed with minced pork marinated with herbs and spices. Included in the roast chicken were sausages, honey baked ham and potatoes. The chicken was nice and tender and the potatoes tasted very good too.
A cheese platter with Australian creamy brie and creamy camembert, gluten free wafer crackers, grapes and a mixture of nuts and raisins.
All these were accompanied by some greens and fragrant rice, and a bottle of sparkling wine.
After the meal, there were fruits and ice-cream for dessert.
We managed to finish most of the food. As usual, by the end of the evening, we were all feeling a bit stuffed from all the eating and drinking. It was a good dinner and gathering. Everyone had a good time.
The party broke up after nine. As with most of our gatherings, I was the first to arrive and the last to leave. I found times at these gatherings seemed to fly past very quickly. We look forward to our next gathering which will be in February of 2025
