The flowers are bell-shaped and hang from the plant. They kind of resemble lanterns. I suppose that’s where the ‘Chinese Lantern’ name came from. They attract pollinators such as butterflies and hummingbirds.
Abutilons grow best in places where there is full sun to part shade. Like most plants, they prefer evenly moist, well-drained soils. They are popular ornamental plants in gardens, and can also be grown indoors as houseplants in cooler climates.
I saw these in the Flower Dome where it is Spring temperature all year round.
