Dare to Dream

It is said that dreams are our realities in waiting. All your dreams can come true, you can be who you want to be – if you have the courage to pursue dreams. You can have anything in life if you have a burning desire to be, and if you are prepared to work hard, persevere, and make sacrifices.

Dream what you want to dream; be who you want to be, go where you want to go. You have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want in life. And if you do dream, you might as well dream big. All men who have achieved great things have been great dreamers.

We all have different dreams. We want different things. So, never laugh at someone’s dreams. People who do not have dreams do not have much. And the poor man is not he who is without a cent, but he who is without a dream.

Having a dream is like planting a seed of future. However, just dreaming, or planting the seed is not enough. We have to do something about it to make our dream come true. Having planted the seed, we need to water it, nurture it, and wait patiently for it to grow.

Some dreams take a little longer to accomplish. Never give up on a dream just because of that. You must have patient.

Dare to dream, and to do. So many of our dreams at first seem impossible. But if we preserve and go at it with enthusiasm and passion, we will one day be able to achieve something. And even if we should fail, at least we tried our best and we had fun in the process.

Dreams are not limited to young, able-bodied people. As long as we are alive, we can dream, and pursue our dreams. Some people pursue their dreams only after they have retired, when they feel they have fulfil their responsibilities to their family, and their children are grown up. Now that they have time on their hands, they merrily set off to pursue their dreams.

Silverbloggers, are you pursuing your dreams? If not now, then when? Just be aware of your physical limits - if your dreams involved tedious physical activity, and don't push yourself too hard. The important thing is to have fun and enjoy the journey, the process.

Dare to dream, for dreams do come true!

Plants and Flowers

It was a beautiful day.

Some plants and flowers I saw on my walk.

Peace lilies, also known as Easter lilies.

River Tarennas.

Ashoka flowers.

This, I have yet to know its name.

This is Stachytarpheta Indica, or commonly known as Indian snakeweed.

Heliconias.

Costus Curvibracteatus or orange tulip ginger.

I haven't found out the name of these yet. They make lovely ground covers and edges.

A couple of healthy looking young banana trees.

A young papaya plant, already bearing fruits.

I am not sure about this - Arborvitae tree?

Another unknown tree laden with fruits.

The leaves of this unknown tree has two colours. They are dark green on the top side and brown on the under side.

Moment of Death

This is poignant. Unfortunately, unless you are very lucky, everyone of us would have to go through this at least once, if not more times.

Death is a fact of life. Whatever your station in life, the time will come when death takes you by the hand. No one lives forever. Whether you are rich or poor, saintly or sinner, there will come a day when you say good bye to this world.

When we were born we came into being. When we die, we cease to be a being. Death is part and puzzle of life. Where there is life, there is decay, there is death. Life and death are two ends of the same process.

People are reluctant to talk about death. They find it morbid to be talking about death, when they feel fit and healthy. Some people are superstitious. They feel it is pushing their luck and encouraging bad luck when they talk about death. But being healthy is no guarantee that you will live to a ripe old age. Death can happen in the blink of an eye. You could be here one moment and gone the next.

People avoid talking about death like it were some shameful activity they engaged in and don't want to be found out. People should talk about death more. When you understand how fragile the human life is, how you can be called away, at any time, perhaps you will treasure your life a bit more. You will be more 'urgent' in living your life.

Talk to your children about death. Prepare them for death, theirs and yours. Let them know what sort of funeral you like to have when the time comes. Do you want a simple funeral, or do you want one with all the works. What do you want to do with your ashes? Spare your children the stress of having to decide what do do in their moment of grieve.

Camila Japonica

Camellia Japonica, known as common camellia, and Japanese camellia, is one of the best known species of the genus Camellia. Sometimes called the rose of winter, it belongs to the family Theaceae. It was reported that there are more than 2,000 cultivars developed from Camellia Japonica, with many colours and forms of flowers.

Camellia japonica is valued for its flowers, which can be single, semi-double or double flowered. The shade of the flowers can vary from red to pink to pure white; they sometimes have multi-coloured stripes or specks.

The leaves are dark green on the top side, paler on the underside. They are said to be rich in anti-inflammatory chemicals such as lupeol and squalene.

These were on my walk route. I don't know if they are a different cultivar of Camellia Japonica. The flowers bear a resemblance but the leaves looked a bit different.

Difficulties

On the journey of life, we will encounter many difficulties. It is through solving the difficulties that we learn, that we gain experience. The more difficulties we worked our way through, the more experience we have. And when we overcome enough difficulties in a particular field, we become the expert in that field.

There is no other way around difficulties. If you find the difficulty overwhelming, break down the difficulty into smaller parts, and tackle the difficulties one at a time. Soon, you will find that you have overcome the difficulty.

When we overcome a difficulty, we feel a sense of immense joy, and satisfaction. We feel very proud of ourselves. The more difficult the problem, the greater the joy and satisfaction.

So, be confident in yourself. Take each difficulty as a challenge. We gain confidence in ourselves with each difficulty we overcome. We also gain knowledge, ability and expertise.

Even if we were not able to solve the difficulty in the end, we still learn what worked and what didn't. No one is born equipped to solve all the difficulties. No one is born an expert in any field. And as long we did our best, and all we could, that is good enough.
