“...memories may be beautiful and yet, what’s too painful to remember, we simply choose to forget…” This is part of the lyrics from the song ‘The Way We Were.’
In life, this is what we do with our memories that are too painful to remember. We simply choose to forget them. Wouldn’t it be great if we could just forget all the unpleasant memories, and keep the good ones.
Bad memories bring up a well of unpleasantness and sadness. I don’t want to go there. Good memories make me long for the good old days, and wonder where they have gone, and if there will be more of such good old days and times.
In any case good memories or bad, they are all in the past, and no amount of reminiscence will do any good. It is better to live in the present, in the moment. Time spent thinking of the past would be better spent thinking on how to improve your future. The future - that's where you will be living, not in the past.
