Sarcasm

Sarcasm is a sharp, bitter, cutting expression or remark; a bitter gibe or taunt. Some are downright insulting, while some are rude, and at the same time, humorous. Sometimes, people are momentarily stunned by a sarcastic remark. They are not sure whether whoever said it was being funny, or whether they are being rude. They do not know whether to laugh, or to feel offended.

Sharpen your wit, and you will be able to get away with insulting people who take the piss out of you, without they even realizing it. Do it with a smile to confuse them further.

Yellowbell Flowers

Allamanda, also known as the yellow bell flower or the golden trumpet, is a tropical shrub or vine. It is a genus of flowering plants in the family Apocynaceae. They have become naturalized throughout the tropics, growing in open, sunny areas with adequate rainfall and perpetually moist substrate. They can be propagated from cuttings.

The bright yellow flowers on the Allamanda vine have overlapping petals that create a trumpet shape. Flowers come into bloom in groups of two or three which come from the tip of stem growth.

Yellow bell flowers have evergreen foliage. The vines are commonly pruned to form a short flowering shrub. The plant is a rapid grower and will quickly vine through a trellis, or across a wall.

According to Plant Information, the Allamanda has been used by herbalists to treat a number of conditions including jaundice, malaria and constipation. It has also proven to have antibiotic properties effective against staphylococcus.

Flowers

An assortment of flowers snapped while I was taking a walk in the park. Some of them were along the road. Unfortunately, I do not know what flowers they are. If you are familiar with any of them, do enlighten me.

A flower's fragrance declares to all the world that it is fertile, available, and desirable, its sex organs oozing with nectar. Its smell reminds us in vestigial ways of fertility, vigor, life-force, all the optimism, expectancy, and passionate bloom of youth. We inhale its ardent aroma and, no matter what our ages, we feel young and nubile in a world aflame with desire. - Diane Ackerman

This is a very unique plant. Beside the flower there is this feature - shaped like a leaf, coloured like the flower, but I guess it is neither leaf nor flower.

I guess this flower belongs to the same family as the one below it. The flowers are different but the leaves are similar.

Unknown Plant

I do not know the name of this plant. Do enlighten me if you know what it is called.

They grow easily in the wild. They seem happy where they are, healthy and thriving.

In days gone by, before the use of plastics and styrofoam boxes, hawkers use them to wrap food in.

They have beautiful, fragrant yellow flowers.

A young plant, before they grow into a bush.

Leaves

Leaves are usually green in color due to the presence of a compound called chlorophyll that is essential for photosynthesis as it absorbs light energy from the sun.

Leaves have many functions. The primary of which is to manufacture food. Photosynthesis is a chemical reaction that takes place in the leaves, producing food for the plant to survive. Water and food materials for the plant are stored in the leaves. Fleshy and succulent leaves of xerophytic plants growing in desert area always store a huge quantity of water, mucilage and food materials.

On the leaves are numerous minute openings called stomata. Through these stomatal openings, gaseous exchange between the atmosphere and plant takes place. Transpiration, a process where water absorbed by the root hairs of the plant is evaporated from the leaf surface during the day time, also takes place through the stomatal openings.

Some plants reproduce by vegetative propagation. In such cases, the leave has the function to reproduce. The leaf margin at point produces roots, and form a bud that grows into a new plant.

Some leaves are not green in colour – like the following plant. In such instance, how do they manufacture food then? Apparently, at low light levels, green leaves are most efficient at photosynthesis. On a sunny day, however, there is essentially no difference between red and green leaves’ ability to trap the sun’s energy.
