Sky Over Mount Calamorro

Cloud watching is never boring. This is because every time you look up at the sky you see a different scene. The scenes are ever changing, so quickly too, and not to mention that the sky is limitless. You watch the clouds in one area, and by the time you switch to another area and back, the scene is different again.

Here are some photos of clouds in the sky over Mount Calamorro in Benalmadena.

On another day. I followed the changing scene in the sky from late afternoon to early evening.

And another day. Bits of stray clouds. They look like someone let off some loose cotton wool.

Satay By The Bay

There are quite a few restaurants and food places in the Gardens by the Bay - from high end restaurants to fast food outlets to outdoor hawker center, for visitors to have a meal after a tour of the gardens, or to have a meal before continuing their tour of the gardens.

Satay by the Bay is one such eatery. It is an outdoor food place in the Gardens by the Bay where you will find many local delights, and a couple of cuisines from overseas.

A couple of day ago, after a stroll in the gardens, my friend and I went to the Satay by the Bay for a quick meal. We were a bit early. So, the crowd hasn't arrived yet.

The popular satay stalls. Only one was open. The price of a stick of satay has gone up by 20 cents. (Satays are small pieces of meat - it can be chicken, pork, mutton or beef, on bamboo skew sticks.

It's dinner time, and the crowd was beginning to come in. Here is a big group of executive looking types.

These were what my friend and I had. Light snacks and finger food.

Carrot cake. It's actually radish fried with egg.

"Kuay pie tie" - Nyonya top hats. Toppings of small slices of turnips, carrots, bits of hard boil egg and peanuts.

Spring rolls.

Soursoup juice

The meal was all right. Simple, local favourites and delights. Nothing special.

Roses

Take time to smell the roses. - Proverb

While this saying is a powerful reminder for us to slow down and be in the present, did you know that the fragrance of roses does actually help to calm one’s nerves and raise one’s spirits? The fragrance from roses is said to be helpful in reducing stress levels and boosting self-esteem!

Without a doubt, the rose is the most popular flower in the world. The rose symbolises love and passion among other things.

The Flower dome at the Gardens by the Bay had an exhibition of roses recently. We were not allowed to smell the roses, we can only appreciate them at a distance. Here are some closed up photos I took on my visit.

Ever wondered why delicate plants like roses have ‘thorns’? Thorns are a defence mechanism to protect the roses from being eaten by animals. They are also an adaptation for some rose varieties where they act as ‘hooks’ to secure the rose to surrounding taller vegetation or even supporting structures like a trellis.

A Nice Walk

This is where the canal along my walk route joins the reservoir.

It was a nice day for a walk. There was some rain in the early morning, but in the afternoon, although the sky was cloudy, the sun was out.

I set out for my regular afternoon walk at the usual time on my usual walk route. As you can see it was pretty cloudy.

This is where I usually turn back from my walk. However, the sky over the other side of the road was very nice, and I was feeling energetic. So, I decided to cross the road and continue my walk. Underneath the road is the canal, which leads to a reservoir.

I concentrated so much on the canal and the factories on the other side that I forgot to take a picture of the wild habitat on this side of the canal. However, I did see this dragonfly and managed to take a shot before it took off.

All in all, it was a pleasant walk. The weather was cool. I captured some nice pictures. And it was 2km more than my daily walk.
