Words are powerful stuff. They can motivate, inspire and educate us. When I come across words that resonate with me, I will take a note of them and add them to my collection. I have been doing that since my school days. They have taught me a great deal about life. It is great to understand what the quote says, and equally great to know that someone thought along the same lines as me, and put it more eloquently.
It is easy to judge. It’s more difficult to understand. Understanding requires compassion, patience, and a willingness to believe that good hearts sometimes choose poor methods. Through judging, we separate. Through understanding, we grow. - Doe Zantamata
The most beautiful experience we can have is the most mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science. He to whom the emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause and stand wrapped in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed. - Albert Einstein
We should be careful to get out of an experience only the wisdom that is in it – and stop there; lest we be like the cat that sits down on a hot stove-lid. She will never sit down on a hot stove-lid again – and that is well; but also she will never sit down on a cold one any more. - Mark Twain
The highest good for man is the desire to do good. The particulars of that good, in words or terms, are not important, for no human concept of good can embrace the perfection and absolute good of Being. - Validivar
The need for justice grows out of the conflict of human interests. That is to say, if there were no conflict of interests among mankind we should never have invented the word justice, nor conceived the idea for which it stands. - Thomas Nixon Carver
People suffer because they are caught in their views. As soon as we release those views, we are free and we don’t suffer anymore. Mindfulness helps you go home to the present. Life is available only in the present. - Thich Nhat Hanh
There are moments when troubles enter our lives and we can do nothing to avoid them. But they are there for a reason. Only when we have overcome them will we understand why they were there. - Paulo Coelho
The greatest degree of inner tranquillity comes from the development of love and compassion. The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. - Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama
