I have walked pass the JW Marriott many times, but didn’t get a chance to have a closer look at the place. A couple of weeks ago, I was out for dinner with a friend in the area. After dinner, we thought we would have a wonder around and have a closer look at the place.
It was then that I found out that South Beach Singapore, previously known as Beach Road Military Camp where the first National Service enlistment took place, it is now the combination of both old (4 heritage buildings) and new (2 towers) architectures.
Consisting of the South Beach Tower, South Beach Residences and JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach in the same compound, the 32,000 square feet South Beach Avenue is the lifestyle wing for dining, wining, nightlife and beauty concepts.
It is home to 16 dining and lifestyle concepts, including more than 10 restaurants, cafes and drinking places. Quite a posh place in downtown Singapore. Unfortunately, we were in the early stages of the easing of the lockdown, so the place was very quiet. Most of the shops and restaurants were closed.
A sculpture by Richard MacDonald in the atrium area.
This is the sculpture in better lighting.
Came across these attractive flowers in the vicinity. We didn't stop to smell them, but we did stop to take a couple of shots.
