Peonies

Some macrophotography of peonies taken at the recent peony display.
Peonies are native to China and Bhutan. Some people consider them the ‘king of flowers’ because of their showy display of fluffy layered blooms.

Paeonia lactifora and Paeonia suffruticosa are two of the 30 species in a genus that is part of the Paeoniaceae family. Garden peonies are herbaceous perennials, while tree peonies are deciduous shrubs. Both bear large, showy flowers, but tree peony blooms tend to be larger. - Source
