Chin Chin Eating House

Established in 1934, Chin Chin eating house is reputed to serve up the best Hainanese Chicken rice, prepared according to Hainanese methods. Hainanese Chicken rice is a very popular dish here, and is considered one of the national dishes of Singapore.

Besides the Hainanese chicken rice, they have a few other Hainanese dishes which are their 'House Specials'. They also do Singaporean dishes, and other dishes with South East Asian flavour.

Chin Chin Eating House is quite well known amongst the locals. Their business is very good. They are always crowded at lunch and dinner hours. Fast and efficient, they are quick to take your orders, and food is served promptly.

The restaurant decor is simple. Actually there is not much of a decor to speak of. And their service is not so good. The attitudes of some of their staff have plenty of room for improvement. They were offhand, bordering on rude. That is unfortunate, because it would have made for a very pleasant dining experience if their service was better. But people tend to overlook that as they go there for the food which is 'cheap and good'.

Steamed Chicken - very tender. I didn't know that they serve roast chicken too. I will give it a try next time.

Stir-fry sliced fish with black bean sauce. This was the first time I had this. They are nice. I like it.
Stir-fry bitter gourd. It looks rather plain - just bitter gourd and oil. But they are actually quite nice. Traditional Chinese medicine says gourds are 'cooling'. If I am not mistaken, bitter gourd is considered one of the four queens of vegetables in Chinese cuisine.
Some plain rice - our staple food
A longan drink.
