Prompted By His Father

A young man was being cross-examined by the attorney for the defence. The lawyer said, “Did someone prompt you about what to say in court?”
              “Yes, sir.”
“Just as I thought. Who was it?”
              “My father.”
“Just what did your father tell you?”
“He said that even though the lawyers would try to get my story all twisted and confused, just stay calm and stick to the truth, and I would do fine.”
