They can tolerate a wide range of soil conditions, making it suitable for most sites, in the tropics. Barringtonia racemosa are commonly seen in parks, gardens and along the roadsides here.
They have attractive red and white flowers on long, hanging flowering shoots. The flowers are night-blooming, fragrant and have filamentous stamens. Their reddish fruits reminds me of figs.
