God of Prosperity

Some photographs of God of Prosperity in the Gardens by the Bay.
The God of Wealth, or God of Prosperity’s name, (also known as Caishen, a direct translation in Mandarin), is often invoked during the Chinese New Year celebrations.

“Caishen – literally ‘God of Wealth’, is the mythological figure worshiped in the Chinese folk religion and Taoism. He has been identified with many historical figures, viewed as his embodied forms. It is unclear whether they are genuine historical figures, though most of the stories agree that Caishen's most popular incarnation lived during the early Qin Dynasty.” - Wikipedia

Although it’s a mythological figure, people still secretly wish, that there is a God of Wealth and somehow, someday they will benefit from the God’s benevolence.

If you are wondering about the suspended dragon that swirl around the supertrees alongside the God of Prosperity, this is the Year of the Dragon. During the Chinese New Year lanterns of the animal’s year are featured in the celebrations.

In the Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Dragon is especially auspicious, with those born under this sign believed to embody the dragon's positive qualities. Individuals born this year are believed to embody traits of ambition, charisma, flexibility and adaptability.
