Growing Our Own Vegetables

Recently my neighbour grew some vegetables. Come harvest time, she gave us some as there was surplus, with instructions on how best to cook them. She said they are nice to eat, easy to grow, and she encouraged us to grow some too.

My sister followed her cooking method and we all liked it. She decided that maybe we could try and plant some ourselves. She followed my neighbour's instructions, planted the stems of the vegetables in a pot, just to see how they do.

Much to our surprise, they did grow easily, just like our neighbour said they would. We had since had our first harvest. Maybe we will plant more - after we get the lunar new year over with.

Unfortunately, we do not know the name of the vegetable, nor does our elderly neighbour. The vegetable can be lightly stir-fried with garlic and oil, or you can cook them in water, break a egg in it and serve it as vegetable soup, or you can drop a few of them in your noodles - however you like it. They are fresh, tender and very nice.

From flower pot to cooking pot to dining table - one can't get more fresh and organic vegetables than this.
