The purpose of planning is to reduce the uncertainty of the future. It is not meant to eliminate it. As you put your plan into action, you may come across obstacles you haven’t anticipated. Or you may find flaws in the plan. This is when you have to alter your plans a bit. Therefore, let your plans be flexible. Let there be room for change. It is a bad plan that cannot be changed.
No one plans to fail, but many fail to plan. If you do not plan, it is all right – just as long as you are not surprised when you fail. Make it a habit to have plans, and let your plans be flexible. If plan A doesn’t work, there is plan B, or plan C or more.
