Tandoori Restaurant

Last night we took a break from cooking and went to an Indian restaurant for dinner. Tandoori Grill is a Hindu restaurant, but it also has a Mexican menu. It would seem that all Indian restaurants here serve Mexican food as well.

We have been to the Tandoori Grill many times, but had never tried their Mexican menu. Well, maybe one of these days, I will give it a try. For last night we had Rogan Josh, Tikka Masala, garlic naan, and some biryani rice.

Papadum was served as a complimentary starter/appetizer/side dish. They are thin, disc shaped crisp served with toppings – mint sauce, mango chutney and chopped onions.

Tikka Masala
Chicken or lamb marinated and roasted in tandoori, prepared with cashews, almonds, butter, tomato sauce, fresh cream and chef spices.
Rogan Josh
Chicken or lamb cooked with fresh tomato, touch of yogurt, rich sauce and Indian spices.
Biryani rice
Garlic naan
We have always enjoyed our meals here. The food is good, the staff are friendly. We will be back.

They seem to be doing quite well. There were always customers about. And many appear to be returning customers. They also do food deliveries to households in the vicinity.

Out And About In Benalmadena

So, I begin my third week of holidays here in Benalmadena. How time flies when you are having fun. I haven’t done much so far – just catching up with friends, going for dinners, totally relaxing activities. I did go out to stretch my legs every day, even if it was just taking the long way, or a roundabout way to go to the shop, or restaurant. Anyhow, here are some pictures I took for WednesdayWalk when I was out and about in Benalmadena. This is a street off the main street in the town center. It was siesta time, so the shops were closed.
I was surprised to see this Hindu temple. And equally surprised to see the statue of a Buddha down the road. I guess it shows how welcoming and accepting the people here are.
A magnolia flower. It has got a lovely fragrant.
A kapok tree. The flowers are fluffy and looks like cotton.
A nice hedge.

Refelctions

This was my post for 'The Reflection Hunters Contest'in another blockchain.

It was one of the afternoons when I was out stretching my legs. I wasn’t particulary looking for reflections. It was another hot summer day here in Benalmadena. There were plenty of shadows. But, reflections are a bit harder to come by since Benalmadena is rather dry in Summer.

Most of the reflections I came upon are from shop windows. Here are some reflections I took on my walk a couple of days ago.

Shadows Of Decors

I was walking along the street, taking in the sights when I saw these dotted shadows of the decorations (colourful paper balls) put up by the town center in celebration of the San Juan festival.

I think I must have been a comical sight for the tourists in the cafes. They were probably wondering what this crazy Chinese tourist is doing, taking pictures of the ground.

Luckily, most of the shops were closed at that time and therefore, there were not so many people about.

Feria de San Juan Arroyo de la Miel

I was out with some friends for dinner on Friday. We were a bit early, so I took the opportunity to wander around the place a bit.

This is the weekend of the San Juan Celebration. Apparently, it is the biggest local celebration. As such the town center was a bit busier than usual. The restaurants in town and in the squares were already busy.

Luckily we were not dining at the town center. Our restaurant was off the High street. Still, there was some spillover and the restaurants off the High Street were also busy. Luckily our friends were already there, and they were able to secure a table.

There were eight of us at the dinner last night. Some left shortly after dinner, while the rest of us carried on and had a few more drinks at the restaurant. As the evening went on, we saw more and more locals on the streets heading in the direction of the Feria, and later, presumably heading for home.

The restaurant was very busy. There was a continuing flow of diners. The restaurant staff, which was already on minimum strength, were rushed off their feet.

It was past midnight when it all quiet down, and we called it a night.

Lovely bed of latana flowers along the road.
Leson la Espiga - that was the restaurant we went to, a local Spanish restaurant.
I had the grilled salmon. It was very nice.
Passing the squares on our way home, we saw that quite a few of the restaurants were still open and there were still people about.
Some ladies were dressed in their traditional flamingo dresses.
