Housing Apartments

It was one of those days when I decided to take a detour during my walk. These apartments look new and neat. So I took some pictures of them on the way.

About 80% of Singaporeans live in these high rise apartments, which are divided into HDB (public housing managed by the Housing Development Board), executive condominiums and condominiums. HDB flats are basic housing, heavily subsidized by the government. They do not have the amenities that condominiums have.

Executives condominiums are the bridge between the HDB flats and condominiums. They are also managed by the government. For those who do not want to live in a HDB but couldn't afford a condominium, executive condominium is the answer. They are cheaper and as good as a condominium. However, there are some restrictions - the details of which I do not know.

Over time, the designs and built of the flats improved. Sometimes, it is difficult to tell whether the block of flats is HDB, or executive condominium. Of course, they are more expensive too.

This is an older basic HDB block of flats.
