Benalmadena

The train station in Benalmadena.
Benalmadena is a small holiday town in the province of Malaga in Spain. It is made up of three urban centers – the Benalmádena Costa, Benalmádena Pueblo, and Arroyo, the town center. The main tourist attraction is the Costa del Sol which covers almost 20 kilometers of coastline of sand and gravel.

Benalmadena is also a retirement town. Many Europeans retire to the slow and idyllic lifestyle here. Some bought holiday apartments so they can have a place to stay when they are in town during the summer months and/or when it gets too cold in Europe.

The town is multinational. There is quite a big community of foreigners – British, Europeans, Scandinavians, Russians, Chinese, and Africans living here. The locals are friendly and accepting. So, one feels very welcome here.

Being a town of holiday makers and retirees, the place is easy going and very laid-back. Life is simple, and affordable. All in all it is a nice place to get away from the everyday strife for a while.
