Caesalpinia Pulcherrima

Caesalpinia pulcherrima is a genus of flowering plants in the pea family, Fabaceae. They are also known as peacock flower, red bird of paradise, Mexican bird of paradise, and pride of Barbados.

They are native to the tropics and subtropics, widely grown as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks. They are evergreen perennials. Hummingbirds are attracted to their beautiful flowers, inflorescences in yellow, red, and orange.

Caesalpinia pulcherrima is the national flower of the Caribbean island of Barbados. That is why they are also known as ‘Pride of Barbados’.
