Food for Thought

Learning does not necessary have to be in a classroom and is not imparted solely by people whom we designate as teachers. We are all teachers and students. In every man there is something we can learn from him, and in that we are his pupils. In this respect, we are also teachers because there is always something people can learn from us. We are all learning, and we are all teaching.

The important thing is – Learn. Try to learn something everyday. Here are some words of wisdom for you to ponder.

The greatest degree of inner tranquillity comes from the development of love and compassion. The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. - Tenzin Gyatso, the 14tth Dalai Lama

Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues. Hence, in the soul in which this virtue does not exist there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance. - Saint Augustine

Two qualities are indispensable: first, an intellect that, even in the darkest hour, retains some glimmerings of the inner light which leads to truth; and second, the courage to follow this faint light wherever it may lead. - Von Clausewitz

The freedom to fail is vital if you’re going to succeed. Most successful people fail from time to time, and it is a measure of their strength that failure merely propels them into some new attempt at success. - Michael Korda

A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What one can be, one must be. - Abraham Maslow

To suggest that we all have a right to be pampered now and again without the usual accompanying feelings of guilt is not asking so much. - Leo Buscaglia

Universal laws always favour the good guy in the long term. A bank robber who has robbed a million dollars and is still free may seem to have defied the law – until he is shot dead one day. - Unknown

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. - Leo Buscaglia

Unfortunately, our senses are limited, therefore our view of the world is limited. This is not a problem unless we start believing that what we perceive is all there is to be perceived. It is not. - Peter McWilliams

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Explore... Dream... Discover… - Mark Twain

Waiting may seem in the way of us getting to where we want to go. But many times, it is through waiting that the sight of a truer destination appears. - Duke Rohe Walk

I do not attribute to nature either beauty or deformity, order or confusion. Only in relation to our imagination can things be called beautiful or ugly, well-ordered or confused. - Benedict Spinoza
