We didn’t have time to explore the lower part of the park. That was unfortunate because on the way up the hill we saw many interesting features in the park. I would have enjoyed a walk around the park.
Located at a short distance above the park, the Guanyin, or Guan Inn Temple in Hat Yai is the largest temple in the entire Hat Yai area. The sculpture of Guanyin Bodhisattva of Mercy stands at 9.9 meters (32.48 feet) high, and is the biggest structure in Thailand.
The ‘Goddess of Mercy’. Quite a magnificent statue isn’t it? Besides the Goddess of Mercy, there are other deities around the temple grounds. This is the legendary Guan Yu - a Chinese military general whose martial prowess was so great that, after his death, he was deified as a god.
