There is a cable car to take you up there. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the top. Teleferico base station is in Arriyo. In summer, the cable car operates until midnight. You can choose to come down on the cable car, or if you are feeling energetic, you can walk down by following the mountain path.
It is several degrees cooler up there so it is a good escape from the summer heat. On top of the mountain, there is “The Valley of Falcons”, where the birds of prey put on a bird show.
Sometimes, in summertime, it is a bit hazy and you can’t see very far but if you are lucky, on a clear day…
“The summit of the Calamorro mountain offers one of the best panoramic views of the Costa del Sol – on a clear day it’s possible to see around 150km in either direction, from Gibraltar in the west to the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Granada province to the east! And experiencing the amazing view is no longer the sole domain of shepherds and climbers – you can see it for yourself with an exhilarating ride to the top on the TelefĂ©rico cable car out of Arroyo de la Miel, near Benalmadena.” - Source
I have been up there once, and once is quite enough. I am not a fan of heights nor cable cars.
The base station, with a cafeteria.
