We are so lucky to have a friend who loves to cook, and to entertain, and is so generous as well. He paid for all the food. We contribute to the gathering by bringing snacks and drinks.
There were six of us (including the host) at the gathering which started at four o’clock. We had some snacks with our coffee/tea.
It was a leisurely afternoon munching on the spread of Spanish hams and Chinese dessert pastries and mooncakes, while we catch up on what’s been happening in our lives since the last time we met up.
Spanish ham and olive brought back from my recent trip to Malaga.
Mooncakes and Chinese dessert pastries. The table is set. A bottle of red wine called 19 Crimes. Has anyone heard of this? I meant to take a closer look at the bottle, but didn't get around to doing it.Prawn Tunis – prawns done Tunisia style
Sayur Lodeh – vegetables in coconut milk Beef rendang – Beef that has been slow cooked and braised in coconut milk Chicken tikka – chicken drumsticks marinated in a rich blend of complimentary spices. Finally, there was Mutton masala – bite size mutton in yogurt based sauce, which I somehow didn’t have a picture of. That was the dish in the center of the photo. I forgot to take pictures of the fruits too. There were always a few kinds of fruits after dinner. After dinner, we planned our next meeting. After discussing our options, we decided that we would go to a restaurant this time, to celebrate the birthday of one of the mates in the group on the 22nd of October. We also have a three days two nights weekend trip to Malaysia on the 28th of October. That should be fun.
The party broke up at half past nine after a scrumptious dinner. We helped to wash up and clean the kitchen before we left. We all had a good time and we look forward to the next invitation.
