Rail Corridor

The rail corridor, also known as the green corridor was once a railway track. It used to be a means of transport between Singapore and its northern neighbour, and also for transporting goods. This was discontinued in 2011.

Since then, the authorities has been developing and enhancing the track into a nature trail. Works on parts of the trail has been completed and opened to the public. They are popular with hikers, bikers, walkers and joggers.

I have explored parts of the trail. A couple of days ago, I ventured to have a look at the supposedly historic and iconic Bukit Timah Railway Station.

Unfortunately, enhancement work on the station and the surrounding was in progress. The plan is to restore and repurpose the conserved Railway Station as a heritage gallery, planting species that were commonly found in a 1960s kampong, and providing amenities such as toilets and bicycle racks.

I will have to come back when works on the place are completed.

When completed, the rail corridor will be 24 kilometres long, in three sections.

The rail corridor is a part of the rich heritage of Singapore. The Truss Bridge (the only one remaining in Singapore) is also one of the rich heritage of Singapore. This Truss Bridge dates back to 1932.

These are the steps to a section of the rail corridor, where I begin my walk.
A resident of the area walked past me. There were reports of wild animals attacking humans. So, I was a bit worried that the little thing might turned aggressive. Luckily, he just moved on, on his way.
Some lovely wild flowering plants
Some posh apartments beside the rail corridor.
