Saizeriya Restaurant

Saizeriya Restaurant is a ‘no frills’ Italian restaurant chain in Singapore. They have outlets all over the island. I have dined at their restaurants a couple of times. They have a decent menu. While their food is, as someone put it – ‘not something to write home about’, they are all right – for the price and portion they are offering.

Since it is a no frills restaurant, there is no service to speak of. However, they were quick to take your orders and prompt in serving your food.

They market themselves as the ‘Casual Italian Restaurant’. Customers call it the ‘cheapest Italian restaurant’ – the place to go to for Italian food. That is the concept, and goal of the restaurant chain – for diners to have a meal at affordable prices, and to introduce Italian cuisine to the public. They have always been quite busy when I dine with them. So, in this respect, I believe they have achieved what they set out to do.

Saizeriya restaurant is a good place for people trying Italian food. Their portions are small. If you are with friends, you can order a few dishes and see which ones you like best. You can mix and match to see what food complements each other, or what food is more to your taste. Of course, you get what you pay for. For a real taste of Italian food, you have to go to an authentic restaurant.

Anyway, I was at Saizeriya restaurant recently with a friend. We had Spaghetti – something different for a change. We ordered Spaghetti, some chicken wings and some seafood. But it turned out that the seafood was actually seafood spaghetti. We should have paid more attention to the menu.
