Cloudy Skies

“A cloudless plain blue sky is like a flowerless garden.” - Terri Guillemets

However, the sky has unpredictable wind and clouds. So, it is never too long before clouds propelled by the wind float across the sky. Sometimes, they form interesting images. Sometimes, with the help of a little light, they form spectacular phenomena.

Here are some photos of clouds over Mount Calamorro.

Roger's Dishes

When not dining out, Roger and I take turns to cook something simple for dinner. We watch the sunset as we enjoy our meals on the balcony. Sometimes, we get treated to a spectacular sunset. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any this year. Still, it is nice to see the sunset while having our meals.

These were some of the dishes Roger cooked up – simple and nice.

Stewed pork cheeks
Most meals, there will be a bowl of very nice salad.
Gammon chops
Burgers
Pork chops
Chicken nuggets

A few simple words, and yet so much wisdom and truism contained therein. If you could grasp the meaning and learn the lessons, you would be a very knowledgeable and wise man. I am sure you have come across some of the sayings before.

Beaches

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Costa del Sol is a 150 km long beach linking several towns in the province of Malaga, Spain. Last Sunday, instead of our usual walk on the beach in Benalmadena, we took the train and went two stations away to check out another part of the Costa del Sol. We were told that the Carvajal beach is much nicer than Benalmadena beach. So, of course, we need to go and check it out.

Our walk from Carvajal beach took us pass Torre Blanca beach, and Boliches beach in the South-west direction until we were in Fuengirola – another town along the beach. From there, we took the train home.

Was the Carvajal nicer? I have to admit it is. It looks newer and better maintained. The water is also nearer the beach, and it is also not so busy. It was quite pleasant to walk on the wide and well maintained promenade. As with the rest of the coast, there are many eateries on the beach, and apartments, shops and more eateries along the road. The place looks, truly, like a holiday town.

Fancy looking straw umbrellas.

The Osborne Bull is the black silhouette of a bull that stands on hilltops and along the roadside in many – but not all – parts of Spain. It began as nothing more than an advertisement in 1956 when the Osborne Group set out to promote 'Veteran' brandy. 👉 Source

Eating Out

Roger and I go out for dinner - two, sometimes three times a week. Although there are many restaurants in Benalmadena, we find ourselves going back to the same restaurants. There are a few reasons for this.

Firstly, we are creatures of habit. If we like something, in this case, a particular restaurant, we will go back to it. Secondly, the local restaurants serve more or less the same food. They cater more to the locals. Some of them don’t have menus in English. And some of the staff don’t speak English. So, there is difficulty in communicating. And since we are not foodies, and only want something simple, we always go back to the few familiar restaurants.

The following four restaurants are our ‘favourites’.

The Tandoori Grill - Indian and Mexican restaurant

Restaurante Chino Internacional - Chinese restaurant
The Espiga
pg) Menson la Mezquita
The Espiga and Menson la Mezquita are local restaurants.

From time to time, we will try out a new restaurant, or revisit one we have been to before.
