There are orange trees all over Benalmadena. They are seen by the side of the roads and streets in Arroyo, and in people’s gardens and courtyards.

However, these are ornamental. They are not the variety that you find in the supermarkets. They are too sour bitter to eat on their own. But, they can be used to make marmalade.
The orange trees blossom in March, and ripens during winter time. There are oranges in the trees now, but they are camouflaged by the green leaves. You do not know they are there unless you look.
There are still a few ripe ones from the last season – late developers.Click on the photo to see the bigger picture.
