Supermarkets

There are many supermarkets and minimarts here in Benalmadena, all within walking distance. In fact, you see a minimart every few blocks. There are no wet markets here. The only market that comes close to being called a wet market is in Malaga – the city center.
The Mercadona is our go to supermarket. They have most of our daily needs. Their supplies are also more consistent and they replenish their stocks regularly. It is a ten minutes walk to the supermarket from our apartment. However, we usually take a walk while we are out, and then drop by the store to buy what we need on the way back.

This is their house specialty section – jamon. Jamon is a type of dry-cured ham produced in Spain – a Spanish national delicacy.

Carrefour supermarket – They are not very good. They constantly run out of things. However, they do have some things that Mercadona does not have. They are also near – only a couple of minutes walk from the apartment. So, they are a good backup for when we run out of stuff or when we forgot to get the stuff at Mercadona.
