An Ancient Inn

On one of our afternoon walks, Roger pointed out this Ancient Inn, El Ventorrillo de la Perra to me. It looked like an abandoned house fallen to neglect after the owners left it.

However, this deserted building has a rich history behind it. It was an inn back in 1782, and this inn, “once in the middle of nowhere between Benalmádena and Torremolinos, was an obligatory stopping point for travellers on the road from Gibraltar to Malaga.”

Apparently, the inn was open until 15 years ago. After that, it “lost its shine and is now in a state of neglect.”

It has a new owner now – the Benalmadena town hall. “The town hall has not yet said what it will do with the old inn, although it has promised to use it to promote local history.”

Sur, the online newspaper 👉 HERE had an article on this ancient inn.
