The Marina Bay Sands SkyPark

The Marina Bay Sands SkyPark is a wondrous feat of engineering. Designed by visionary architect Moshe Safdie, the SkyPark floats atop the three soaring Marina Bay Sands hotel towers. Some have commented that it looks like a celestial surfboard or a spaceship docking on a tripod.

Perched on top of the iconic Marina Bay Sands towers, 57 levels above ground, the SkyPark offers a taste of the high life with views of Singapore from above. A visit to the SkyPark's Observation Deck is a must for anyone looking to get the best view of the city's gorgeous skyline. It is a great place to hang out – a must thing to do when you visit Singapore.

Being in the heart of the Marina Bay area, the SkyPark Observation Deck boasts scenic views of the panoramic vistas of Marina Bay and Singapore’s world-class cityscape. From up there, you can have a bird’s-eye view of Gardens by the Bay – Singapore’s futuristic park with its magnificent metal tree-like structures called the Supertrees, and admire the sea view that stretches from Marina South Pier to the Singapore Strait.

If you are a hotel guest, you have free access to the park as well as the infinity pool. Visitors pay a fee of $23 for adults, and $17 for children 1 – 12 years old, to visit the park only. They are not allowed to go to the pool area.

The best way to take advantage of the visit is to go there in the early evening. You get to see Singapore by both day and night, and if you are lucky, perhaps even a sunset. Witness an unforgettable panoramic view of the Singapore skyline. The views are different during the day and pretty lights at night.

A friend of mine had a free room there for one day. I took the opportunity and tagged along to have a look. Here are some pictures I came away with. Unfortunately, I went there in the afternoon, so there are no pictures of the evening scene - which I am sure would be absolutely amazing with all the lights.

This was actually a view from the room - courtesy of my friend.

A glass panel with wires at the top were all that keep you from falling, or jumping over the edge. These make taking pictures difficult. You either have reflections or wires showed up in the pictures. You have to either position the cameras between the wires - limiting the angle, or you have to place your camera close to the glass to avoid/reduce the reflection.

There is an Italian Restaurant and a Rooftop Bar located atop the Sands SkyPark. You can have a meal or a cocktail as you take in the view. It was all closed up when we were there. I don't know if they are opened in the evening. Tourists arrival have dropped to almost nothing because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
