Dahlias

“What this old world needs is more bouquets handed around to folks when they are alive and kicking. Flowers don’t do a dead one much good.” - Robert Elliott Gonzales

These beautiful Dahlia flowers were taken from an exhibition in a Flower Dome.

There are around 40 Dahlia species, and thousands of different cultivars and hybrids. Without the signs at the exhibition, I wouldn’t be able to know one flower from the next.

According to Wikipeia, “Dahlia is a genus of bushy, tuberous, herbaceous perennial plants native to Mexico and Central America. They belong to one of the largest flowering plant families, Asteraceae, or the sunflower family.”
