Botanical Gardens

It has been a while since I visited the Botanical Gardens. Last month, a friend suggested that we go and have a look to see what’s new. I liked the idea very much. So, off we went to the Botanical Gardens.

"The Singapore Botanical Gardens is a 163-year-old tropical garden located at the fringe of the Orchard Road Shopping district in Singapore." - Wikipedia

“The Gardens was established here at Tanglin in 1859 by an agri-horticultural society on an abandoned plantation. The Gardens was handed over to the Governnent for management in 1875. It evolved from an experimental economic garden to a botanical insituition with roles in research, education, conservation and recreation.” - From a signboard at the gardens’ entrance.

I enjoyed my visit. It was very pleasant, walking through the gardens and seeing the familiar sites again. They have expanded the place. It would take some time to visit all the attractions. There were a few attractions which we didn’t cover. That will be for the next trip.

Of course, I take lots of photos of the garden. It will be too much to post all of them in one post. Hence, I will do it in a few posts. Do come back and visit.

There are many exits to the gardens. We entered the gardens via the Bukit Timah Gate, and exited through the Tanglin gate exit.

We came across a couple of chickens foraging in the bush. There were quite a few of them in the gardens.
There are many of these seats for you to rest your tired legs, or to catch your breath.
If you are feeling peckish or thirsty, you can have a snack at one of the cafes.
The Gardens has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2015. It is the first UNESCO Heritage Site in Singapore.

The Gardens is the first and only tropical botanical on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Today, the Gardens is an important botanical insituite. - ๐Ÿ‘‰ Source
